Digital marketing is the real deal

Due to the rapid rate at which technology has advanced in the last decade, digital marketing has grown exponentially as a by-product of modern technological advancement. Digital marketing is now considered extremely important to all types of organisations, from large multi-national firms, to local small businesses.

Investment in digital marketing is growing each year, and in 2015 is expected to see the total investment number by firms into digital marketing hit approximately $US200 billion, 15% up on the 2014 total. It is interesting to note that this expected rise is attributed to the rising use of mobile and tablet devices, which I have already mentioned in a previous blog post. Firms now believe that a multichannel marketing approach, incorporating television, magazines, newspapers, computers and mobile devices, is the best way to market their products. Furthermore, mobile marketing allows for personalized marketing efforts that the consumer will undoubtedly see, as the average person is using their phones and tablets more and more each day.

This hefty investment in digital marketing has also led to some firms creating new jobs in their marketing departments, with Standard Chartered Bank recently hiring Damien Cummings as their ‘Global Head of Digital Marketing’. This appointment goes to show that firms now hold digital marketing in such high esteem that they are created high-level management positions with the specific purpose of managing all digital marketing efforts that the firm deploys across the globe.

The world we live in is increasingly becoming digitized, meaning more research and investment is being steered towards grasping a solid comprehension of digital marketing.   1. I’m not sure whether more people will be employed as a result of digital marketing, but I think there will definitely be a shift in the roles of marketers as a result of the endless opportunities that digital marketing presents

This was such an informative post and it’s clear that digital marketing has now become a KEY, VITAL component in running any successful business and it’s essential for us to really understand the best routes to take regarding it. Therefore, I definitely feel because of this more jobs will be created for this specific area. Great post!
